Cyrus Lyric 09

CYRUS Lyric 09 - Stereoplay (Germany) review
  • Lyric 09 is Stereoplay Group Test "Highlight" Winner
  • Price/ Performance: "Outstanding"
  • Cyrus Lyric 09 is a majestic device that's full of power.
  • The Lyric 09 can drive great big floor-standing speakers. We moved up from the small studio monitors to the room filling Bowers & Wilkins 802 Diamond speakers. This does look unusual; we would normally put impressive mono blocks with the 72 kilo speakers.
  • However, in this case, it is a single component which doesn’t merely bravely hold its own, rather threatens to make a mockery of separate mono amps.....the Lyric 09 remained strong as iron demonstrating incredible strength, the B&W have seldom sounded so natural.
  • As far as sound, design and user functionality goes, the Lyric 09 is one of the heroes of this test and our surprise winner.
  • Often the phrase “All-in-one“, can mean everything is levelled into a middle class middle of the road performance. The Lyric 09 is different: great high end, perfect sound staging, high resolution, dynamic and very stable power amplification.

  • The tonal balance is actually perfect. The same can be said of timbre - is neither cool nor insulated. Lyric 09 just playing, acting like a high-end amplifier. In the first minutes rather not throw listeners to his knees, but then begin to bestow it more and more respect.
  • The sound was always tight and ready even for the arrival of total slaughter. Respect. Which in addition to the overall neutrality and speed can appeal to the Cyrus? Certainly dynamics and stereophony.
  • Cyrus Lyric 09 is a complete audio system in one box to which you can connect up to 14 sources and loudspeakers... Cyrus can play files in 24-bit. Built-in 32-bit data performs upsampling to 192kHz. The interior of such a versatile device should look like a mountain of cars in the junkyard, but - here there is even German order.
  • VERDICT: Cyrus Lyric 09 is extremely modern device with a mature audiophile sound... The price may seem high, but think how much you would spend buying a separate amplifier, converter, player, streamer and tuner, and to separate table for all the junk and again on the remote control to them. I was convinced by the device.

Cyrus Lyric 09 - Hi-Fi + review
  • Hooked up to PMC fact.8 loudspeakers with Townshend Isolda cable, the sound is pacey and very open. It is also uncannily clean.
  • The Cyrus Lyric 09 makes many of its rivals sound a little grubby or earthy in comparison, but without the ‘shiny’ sound that you might expect from an amp designer over-compensating. It has excellent depth when the recording allows, and always works well with regard to tempo.
  • Lyric is a tour de force for Cyrus. The sound quality combined with the feature count and sheer ease of use puts it in the premier league. The amplifier is a major upgrade on virtually all multi-source, single box solutions and makes Lyric good enough for some very revealing loudspeakers. This is a product for today!

  • AVSA South Africa’s premier audio visual magazine, reviews the Lyric’s ability to deliver real music with verve and authority:
  • Deon Schoeman takes us on a musical journey sharing how the Lyric makes The London Symphony Orchestra sound rich in emotion and expansive in scale, and how the luscious swing of Robbie Williams’ Swing Both Ways, is proof of our talent for scale and occasion!
  • Schoeman seems lost in the moment as the Lyric takes him to the realms of believable sound, with brooding presence, a smooth glass finish and soft touch controls, Schoeman compliments the Lyric on its sexiness, muscle and robustness.

  • "Subtlety and power rarely come together in modestly priced products, but the ONE sets the bar high on both counts at this price."
  • "I’ve been won over by the way the innovative ONE presents music with addictive dynamics, deep transparency and refined timing."
  • "Cyrus may have been inspired to appeal to a new, younger ‘enlightened’ audience that wants plug and play simplicity for vinyl, streamed and line sources, but the level of performance it has achieved within a single svelte box for a modest price, means seasoned audiophiles should be tempted. Thoroughly recommended."

CYRUS ONE - The Audiophile Man review
  • "Where this track, from some of the better quality competition, can sound open and airy but also lacking in precision and accuracy, the Cyrus corrects those issues."
  • "The ONE’s focus and accuracy is a wondrous element of its sonic personality but that has to derive from attention to detail in terms of low noise planning for both part selection and internal planning which allows other, more subtle, frequencies to do their thing."
  • "Compact in size but offering a snazzy and very attractive sense of dash and urbanity, the ONE provides everything you might need within a budget amplifier without any sense of compromise. The low noise focus that the amplifier bestows upon the musical output is very impressive making it a hard challenger for amplifiers double the price. "

  • While there’s no DAC, aptX Bluetooth is onboard so you can stream music from a phone, tablet or laptop.
  • The One surprises yet again, delivering a big, glossy and clinically-balanced presentation that’s lathered with the punch and solidity that makes music, whether it’s SBTRKT’s Wildfire or Olaf Arnalds’ Ljosio, sound immediately arresting. Cyrus claims a power output of 100 watts per channel and that figure is believable.
  • The drums opening the former snap through our speakers with force and duress, and the chubby bassline is backed with plenty of weight as it moves at pace over the top.
  • The silky pop vocal penetrates the soundstage with just as much conviction and is fleshed out without sounding too thick or sacrificing texture.
  • For:
    • Crisp, clean balance
    • Punchy and solid

CYRUS 6a - What Hi-Fi 5 stars May 2013

Cyrus 6a

CYRUS - What Hi-Fi 5 Stars
  • Precise; remarkable clarity; detailed, spacious performance
  • The trademark characteristics of Cyrus amp are immediately apparent. Songs across a variety of genres are packed with detail, with remarkable clarity throughout the vocals and midrange, a satisfying bass response and a spacious, organised presentation that allows all layers of the song to shine and be heard.
  • Take a listen to Kate Bush's This Woman's Work, and the 6a shows off an excellent handling of dynamics, drawing out each of the pulsing tones.
  • Where other amps with such precision can be in danger of sounding a bit disjointed, the 6a manages to use its strict organisational nature to produce a very precise, well-timed and ultimately 'togheter'-sounding performance

  • "I've recently had the chance to experience the most enjoyable first part of the three stages of life of every consumer product (the thrill of purchase, the eventual disappointment of ownership, the problem of disposal) when I 'upgraded' my reference amplifier from an Arcam FMJ A38 to a Cyrus 6A"
  • "In some ways the 6A could even be regarded as inferior, it offers only about 60 watts instead of 140, the sequential source selection menu is a pain, the remote control is horrid and the display isn't particularly legible for starters, yet I am absolutely overjoyed with it. How can this be?"

CYRUS 6a - AudioVideo (Russia) review
  • The amplifier has a highly organized and energetic sound and easy enough to cope with the test floorstand acoustics.
  • Excellent control in the lower range, which can be easily traced relief bass instruments. Bass is extremely concrete, deep enough and does not drop the attack.
  • Expressive middle seems designed to the smallest detail and totally unveiled.
  • The space can be described as a fairly compact in scale, but with the exact preservation of all proportions.
  • Measurements:
    • Distortion rate is extremely low, in the power range of 0.5 - 30 W it is almost independent of the load impedance variations, at 0.003 - 0.004%.
    • For 8ohm load clipping begins at 50W, and for 4ohm at 70W.
    • The amplifier worked perfectly even with speakers having significant dips in impedance.

CYRUS - What Hi-Fi 5 Stars
  • Cyrus 6 DAC builds its tonal spectrum from the center out, without overemphasizing this area. Rather, the exceptionally clear, concise and fine catalyzed details performance of the mid frequency is one of the strengths of the ohrenfälligsten Cyrus, that emphasizes its tonally tight and dry-structured character. The reproduction of natural instruments and voices is absolutely natural and has a very "real" feel
  • The perceived positioning of individual musicians or sound events within the action is excellent
  • Good dynamics

  • Best stereo amp £600-£1000, Awards 2012.
  • The usual Cyrus traits: precision, clarity, speed, detail and confidence
  • Sonically the 6a doesn't stray from traditional Cyrus sound. This means there's a speedy delivery, excellent levels of detail, and a breathtaking level of clarity across a wide variety of genres.
  • Dynamic bursts are wonderfully controlled and the Cyrus can keep pace with even the most frenzied and complicated of beats.
  • Cyrus 6a: Impeccable precision
  • Vocals are clear and expressive and the amp has excellent midband clairity, and a controlled, seamless handling of dynamics. Spin Christophe Beck’s instrumental Dead Guys With Bombs, and the 6a zings through the tension-packed piece with impeccable precision and soundstaging.

CYRUS 6a - Hi-Fi Choice Group Test Winner
  • The 6a was declared the Best amp of 2012 following an exhaustive process undertaken by the magazine's reviewing team which looks at all of the amplifiers tested over the past 13 issues
  • The music sauntered along at a fair gait, with lots hapening and the general sense that it had a beginning, a middle and an end.
  • Moving to Sade's Smooth Operator and Ms Adu's vocals sounded delicate and sensitive, wheras it had been anaemic with many others here.
  • lndeed, it made the rather hard VCMG piece very llstenable, capturing the urgency of the music without assaulting the listener.
  • It proved detailed on the Jim White track, signposting the rain sound efect very well and serving up a contemplative mood to his lyrics, whereas others made him sound processed.
  • Lovely looks, spouse-friendliness and the fact that it makes your listening room rather larger than if you had the Yamaha sitting in the same place!
  • Measurements:
    • The 6a is capable of 2x50W/ 8ohm and 2x68W/ 4ohm with sufficient dynamic headroom to acommodate peaks of 89W, 162W and 270W into 8, 4 and 2 ohm loads (output is limited to 255W/ 1 ohm). Clearly, this is a very capable '40W' amp.
    • Distortion is very low at ~0,0005% through bass and midrange, increasing to 0,03% at 20kHz.

  • These are not specially analytical equipment, especially if you compare them with products on the property minded, such as Marantzami or Cambridge Audio. I think, however, that nevertheless perfectly Cyrus "communicates" with the listener, the musical message is absolutely clear and consistent.
  • There is something in that sound remarkably coherent, orderly and natural, with no sharpening and no blurring.
  • Cyrus can show certain things as much more expensive systems - compact and at the same time in the natural aura, giving them the truth.
  • Measurements:
    • Can boast the power of 55 watts into 8 ohms and 81 W at 4 ohms (one channel). At maximum effort adapter (loaded two channels) achieve 2 x 50 watts into 8 ohms and 2 x 63 W @ 4 Ohms - significantly more than the data directory!
    • The strongest second harmonic has a very low level of -92 dB.

  • "Respected the subtle note decays evident in the best recordings, and avoided exaggerating or inhibiting the natural die-away of the room sound."
  • "Nailed the sound of that tonally rich recording and delivered excellent stereo imaging in the bargain: a surprisingly big, substantial sound with superb spatial detail and stability, and decent if not peerless depth reproduction."
  • "Thanks to its good level of clarity, the 6vs was truer than most other inexpensive amps to the distinctions of different musicians' tone, touch—and recording venue."
  • "The Cyrus 6vs is something I can strongly recommend to anyone shopping in this price range."
  • Measurements:
    • Output impedance of 0.08 ohm at low and midrange frequencies, rising very slightly to 0.1 ohm at 20kHz
    • The Cyrus' reproduction of a 10kHz squarewave was excellent
    • The protection operated at 55.5W into 4 ohms (14.4dBW) with both channels operating and no less than 106.6W into 2 ohms (14.25dBW)
    •  Even at the high power the second harmonic lay at –94dB (0.002%). Intermodulation distortion was also extremely low.

Cyrus 6vs & CD6s - AudioVideo (Russia) review
  • The sound of the pair instantly captivating. Upper range transmitted exemplary neutral, in the tiniest detail and without embellishment. Sound details not only shown, but ennobled - hence the high realism of playback.
  • Picturesquely transmitted midrange. Even at high volume the music sounds natural, all instruments and vocals, easy to understand, are formed in the whole image. The bass slightly overdamped, but well to the attacker percussion instruments.
  • Energetic sound, rich and surprisingly tactful.
  • Equipment of this level is incredibly demanding on the quality of speakers and cables.
  • Measurements:
    • Just a phenomenal range, the dream of every designer. At 7W the distortion is simply not visible, at 0.005% not many harmonics above the noise floor. By increasing the output power up to 17 W appears the 3rd harmonic, and after 20 Watt - the 2nd. Components of higher orders have a very small amplitude up to clipping.
    • According to the classical canons of this amplifier can be regarded as a model, its sound should please even picky audience with a fine ear for music.

  • Extensive space as faithfully reflects the acoustic recording rooms, but the surprising strength of Cyrus were low tones. It was not just a bass, but powerful basiszcze. I would add that it controlled. The organ recordings could be counted Hertz and probably himself Roberto Barletta, the constructor of my Xavianów would be surprised if they obeyed with Cyrus.
  • Like clockwork directed me toward the rock slabs. And there just showed what it takes to ride no hands. Strong, supple, elastic bass, combined with an acute attack of drums, made the rhythm section zasuwała like mad locomotive.
  • The slower pieces from the circle of Pink Floyd, Genesis and Camel recognition aroused stereophony, rhythm and mood music. "Sobbing" David Gilmour's guitar sounded in this combination is best. And all this with a device the size of a shoe box!
  • Conclusion: Those who have not yet had to deal with Cyrus, should be waiting for a big surprise.

CYRUS 8a - Hi-Fi News Highly Commended
  • The diminutive Cyrus 8a punches well above its weight.
  • The 8a sounded exceptionally clean; at low volume I noted similarities to other amps in the group, especially the Rega, in terms of scale. But increasing the levels revealed just how clean this amplifier is.
  • Through the 8a, drums, especially on the Denny album, were the tightest and most forceful sounding of the amps on test, and gave music real pace.
  • The piano on 'Telegraph Road' sounded equally pure through the Cyrus, which seemed to add nothing and allowed the quality of the original recording to shine through.
  • Measurements:
    • Rated at 70W, it delivered close to 90W with 105W, 200W and 325W under dynamic conditions into 8, 4 and 2 ohm loads, suggesting great tolerance of difficult speaker loads.
    • Distortion is very low (0.00015-0.01%, 20Hz-20kHz), the output impedance low and consistant at ~ 0.045ohm (20Hz-20kHz) and the response positively subterranean with a near-DC bass extension!

CYRUS - What Hi-Fi 5 Stars
  • We played Hans Zimmer’s Dream is Collapsing from the Inception soundtrack and right away the CDi displayed the uniform, articulate and intuitive presentation that we’d expect from a more expensive player.
  • Offering buckets of detail, the finer flurries of quieter instruments surfaced, while the more intense parts of the score soared into a dramatic climax.
  • Each layer of the composition was precisely unpeeled, and each instrument passed through the mix with coherent flow and tact.
  • But the rhythmic talent here is what really raises our eyebrows. Pace and momentum is exercised with articulation and vibrancy.
  • We found ourselves entertained by the Cyrus’ dynamic agility and neutral balance in a way that’s rare at this price.
  • As if that weren’t testing enough, we dug out a live recording of Linkin Park and were equally impressed at the amount of clarity and definition it extracted against the background crowd noise – even if the spacious soundstage seemed a bit forsaken.

  • The general price level, which these devices are sold for (n.r. Cyrus 8 XPd, CD 8 SE, PSX-R), is best value for money, regardless of the price ceiling. It is already a really good sound at this level, and the price, if you compare it to a strictly high-end products, it is quite a bargain.
  • The amplifier is fast not only in the bass, but also in the whole band. There is little to fault the midband and highs that consistently join. There is no shortage of color saturation, there is no evidence of drainage features, but is speed. Nice sound for the cymbals that have color and the appropriate metallicity, but also the intensity of the treble does not go beyond linear. The amplifier does not have any problem with the drawing of space, wyłuskując many details about the location of instruments and voices. Quite well can cut out the background vocals in the middle of the stage.
  • System 8 (n.r. Cyrus 8 XPd, CD 8 SE, PSX-R) very proudly represents the country of origin. Sounds good in every way, offering really good value for money.

  • Dynamic clean at the top of the band, saturated in the middle. Engaging and fatigue-free.
  • Sound system Cyrus is not "surgical" precision, but it has an excellent top of the band, while the emotion focused on the diameter.
  • The sound space turns out to be a large, built in front of us and around us.
  • Ability to extract modulation, articulation, textures, moods Cyrus is above average. Letting go of any CD, quickly turn our attention to the diameter. It's a bit of heat, but in a way invigorating, full and plastic.
  • Provides an excellent balance between naturalness and assimilation, virtually all recordings sound at least pleasant.
  •  High tones are very clean, because the higher diameter is smooth and quiet, so sometimes go to the front - there is no sweet rounding is clear detail. Sheets have and impact, and voiced "halo".
  • All you listened, had a great rhythm, "input".
  • Distortion spectrum shows an almost perfectly clean, with a second harmonic at low -85 dB, which is also the only above the level of -90 dB.

  • The Signature sounds cleaner, crisper and more dynamic, even compared with its predecessor partnering a PSX-R.
  • Each instrumental strand is crisply drawn, notes stop and start with precision, and subtleties, such as the dense texture of the growling low frequencies and the space around the sparse instrumental backdrops, are easy to hear.
  • The soundstage is open and wonderfully expansive. The imaging is stable, focused, and layered with great care.
  • We’re also impressed by the combination’s wide-ranging dynamics; the way the soundtrack’s seismic bass hits hard but also the nuanced rendering of the piano and string notes. It’s the kind of performance we’d find hard to better even at double the money.
  • Outside of very expensive alternatives this is the best-sounding CD transport we’ve heard
  • Class-leading sound when partnered with a suitable DAC
  • Superb dynamics

  • The taut bottom end feeds up to a most excellent mid-band which seems very good at digging down into the spaces between the notes on music with repetitive beats, be it the jazzy strains of Herbie Hancock’s I Have A Dream or the thumping drum and bass of Goldie’s Inner City Life
  • It sounds less stressed, less brittle and more like an organic event before your very ears. Indeed, this really defines the Cyrus; it has a sense of ease that simply doesn’t sound like digital. The music flows organically, rather than coming over as forced or artificially enhanced in some way.
  • Treble is excellent too, being crisp and smooth and well extended. Again, it’s amazing how a transport can change the ‘feel’ – if not the actual tonal balance – of the high frequencies.
  • It’s an awful lot to spend on ‘just’ a transport, but I have never heard anything that comes close at this price.
  • LIKE: Stable, spacious, musical sound; slot-loading design
WE SAY: Superb ‘affordable high-end’ silver disc spinner

Cyrus CD i

  • FIRST TESTS:
  • Exceptional resolution and agility: terrific dynamics; a wonderfull way with rhythms; precise sound-staging; upgrade potential
  • Eminem's Marshall Mathers LP 2 is a hard-sounding album, but this Cyrus takes it all in its stride. The presentation has greater weight and low-end authority than its predecessors, but it's the CDi's way with rhytms that really catches our attention. It's dazzling expressive, capturing the changes of pace and momentum superbly.
  • Move onto Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture and w're taken by the Cyrus's dynamic reach and its ability to keep track of delicate musica strands when the piece gets busy.
  • The CDi is an exceptional player that's as insightful as it is entertaining.

CYRUS Phono Signature - HiFi+ (UK)
  • Cyrus Phono Signature has received another glowing review, this time from Alan Sircom at Hi-Fi +. He says:
  • "In the Phono Signature, Cyrus has made an outstanding phono stage, one that combines the need for a holographic soundstage and massive amounts of detail, and one that gives a musical, engaging presentation...and all points in between."
  • With the addition of PSX-R₂ he said that as a combination this system can take on some of the real heavyweights! Alan says: "Recordings opened up under the watchful gaze of Phono Signature with ease, and the gentle tonal adjustment of cartridge loading can bring out the hidden gems within your record collection."
  • He listened to a variety of tracks including 'America is Waiting' from Eno and Byrne's 'My life in the Bush of Ghosts'. In his conclusion Alan says:
  • "The Cyrus Phono Signature surprised me. I expected it to be good. I just didn't expect it to be this good! Coupled with the PSX-R₂ it's a true world-beater; dynamically free, detailed and most of all so damn enjoyable to sit in front of..."'

  • If you're looking for a good read take a look at the fantastic review that The Ear gave Phono Signature. A full 5 stars! Phono Signature was reviewed by Jason Kennedy and Rene van Es with and without the addition of PSX-R2:
  • Jason: "Tom Waits’ Swordfishtrombones turned out to be even better than I thought it was, and I thought it was good, but the depth that the Cyrus reveals is remarkable."
  • "Overall the Phono Signature is an excellent phono stage on its own and especially with the optional PSX-R2 power supply."
  • Rene: "I experiment with an original pressing of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side Of The Moon, tracks like ‘On The Run’ and ‘Time’ are useful. The Cyrus is so pure and clear that although I’ve played this record many, many times I notice some small details I was not aware off before."
  • "This Cyrus proved to be a versatile product for vinyl lovers with one or more arm/cartridge combinations, it’s a pleasure to listen to and worthy of the Signature label."
  • "Ultimately this is such a good phono stage that you don’t need nor want to spend time comparing the effect of different loadings, you just want to play more vinyl."

CYRUS Phono Signature - Stereo (Germany) review
  • Michael Lang at Stereo Magazine Germany, recently reviewed Phono Signature:
  • Sound Rating: 91%, Overall "Excellent"
  • Price / performance: "Excellent"
  • "A lot of time elapsed since CYRUS in 1998 showed up with the aEQ7, the company's first discrete and serious phono stage. Peter Bartlett, mastermind of the English company, developed with the Signature a clever successor. But a "me too" product was not at issue, they wanted to create something outstanding, yet not give up the classic Cyrus design style".
  • "The outcome is an amplifier for vinyl use, which at the same time fascinates analogue enthusiastic dealers as well as experimental customers - thus the "Signature" offers connectivity and individual settings for four turntables (!). Each input can be allocated with an MM or MC cartridge; gain, impedance and capacitiy can be adjusted in several stages - and this even with a remote control. Not only that, the English offspring comes also with a balanced and an unbalanced output, so that it can be docked to any sound system configuration".
  • "Technically, Mr. Bartlett and his crew paid attention to extremely short signal paths as well as to anything else that you usually can find in a developer's treasure chest. So special relays are used right at the beginning of the signal input, just to avoid any interference noise getting close to the extremely weak cartridge signals. The power supply section is as far as possible away from the input section, and the toroidal transformer is custom made to Cyrus' special application requirements. So to say, this is a "Jack of all trades" phono stage. Sensationally equipped and sonically barely less gifted, it surely will find its fans! No doubt, the Signature has far more to offer than ample features!"

  • Soundstaging is wide and deep, not to mention impressively high. They convey great ambiance to the sound and project vocals in a clear and natural manner.
  • The Cyrus X200 Signature monos have a great refinement to a wide resolution and a lovely smoothness to the midrange. They are fantastically musical and cohesive.
  • There are clearly extended realms of resolution in the music and extension at both upper and lower frequencies which make these amps sound just so balanced and involving.

  • The voice sounds as if it were physically ‘there’ between the loudspeakers, with the only real limitations coming from the loudspeaker boxes. You quickly begin to realise this ‘thereness’ holds throughout, but it also comes from the midrange out.
  • Where this valve amp comparison hits home is in soundstaging. The Cyrus has a rare and valuable sense of three-dimensionality in its imaging that normally comes from the thermionic end of the amplifier spectrum. And yet, unlike thermionic valves, the Cyrus 200 is state of the art and relatively cool running in use. The live Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky piano trios played by Argerich, Kremer, and Maisky [DG] are a fine example of this soundstaging at work, in that you get a sense of the physical stage itself, and of three artists playing to a live audience through ambient information.
  • I think Cyrus has nailed Class D with the 200 power amplifier. I’ve heard my fair share of Cyrus amplifiers in my time, and this one is at least up there with the best of them. But more than that, the Cyrus 200 is an important amplifier, because it shows what Class D can do without costing a small fortune. While I’ve ‘banged on’ about Class D here (partly because the technology still has to justify its place in the audiophile hierarchy), I suspect most people who hear this amp will simply buy it because it sounds damn good. Highly recommended.

Cyrus Stereo 200

Cyrus Stereo 200 - Hi-Fi Choice review
  • The song’s wonderfully thick and fruity bass guitar sounds effortless, even at very high levels that would have many similarly priced products wheezing. It is also pleasingly tuneful and stops and starts in all the right places, giving the sound a rhythmic correctness that underpins everything else in the mix.
  • The amplifier is able to blend everything together well, giving a detailed, multi-layered sound that is a pleasure to listen to.
  • The Stereo 200 conjures up a spacious recorded acoustic, yet one that invites the listener right in. Again that strong bass is in evidence, and at high volume levels gives the amplifier a commanding sound.
  • Once again, its supple handling of the song’s bass guitar pushes things along with alacrity, while vocals are clean and expressive and guitars upfront and engaging.
  • Can tackle crashing electric guitar chords and drums with relish.
  • It’s certainly one of the feistiest sounding Cyrus power amplifiers I have ever heard.
  • Has real appeal for those needing a fine-sounding powerhouse that doesn’t take over their living space.
  • LIKE: Big power in a small package; gutsy, musical sound. WE SAY: Excellent value compact powerhouse.

CYRUS Stereo 200 & Stream XP₂ Qx - STEREO (Germany) review
  • Price / Performance: "excellent"
  • Once again this proves that a Cyrus device creates its proverbial musicality from the wonderful midrange. Even verbal contributions appeared unbelievably natural, colourful and in fact a little bit charming.
  • The sound pattern provided by the Cyrus combination is characterised by resilient easiness and rhythm with fantastic timbres carried by a downright outstanding and harmonious midrange reproduction, for example in Joe Jackson’s “Steppin‘ Out”. The tonal accuracy can be heard down to the minutest detail, especially in vocals and small line-ups
  • The Stereo 200 is one of the few Class D amplifiers that are able to take on the best of the comparable parallel classes A and AB. There is no trace of pale timbre or dull trebles which certainly results from the relatively high upper frequency limit and the trained ear of Peter Barlett who personally adjusts every device for the serial production.
  • The top-class Stream combines DAC, network player and pre-amplifier for rather reasonably priced 2790 Euros. Only an analogue input will most likely be missed by some people. Overall, this device is energetic and puts heart and soul into playing music while it stays smooth and deeply musical. The same goes for the super strong power amplifier. Kudos!

Cyrus Pre DAC & X Power - STEREO (Germany) review
  • A particular strength of Cyrus has always been timing – and it still is. The components have exemplary qualities in terms of flow and rhythm - building up the sound pattern from the eminently important bass and middle range, which is very characteristically transmitted completely without breaks - is richly facetted and enormously natural.
  • Hardly any other piece of equipment in the same price range, but of a different make, will exceed or at best equal a Cyrus amplifier in reproducing the human voice.
  • The energy balance is also right and ensures that nothing is annoying or drifts off into the world of clinical analysis. The soundstage is nicely illuminated, well thoughtout in its depth and width. The space-time allocations are authentic, delivering an amazing image, and with it a convincing credibility of the dimensions illustrated. It sounds very open, free and detached.
  • LABORATORY COMMENTS - Pre DAC:
    • Outstanding laboratory results. All values measured are absolutely at the top of the range, although it is of course the distortion, noise and crosstalk values which are the most interesting.
    • Elegant, rhythmic “swinger” and excellent pre-amplifier with high-quality D/A converter. Upgradable.
  • LABORATORY COMMENTS - X Power:
    • Respectable output performance, certainly sufficient for most applications with substantial spare capacity and top-quality values in all important categories such as extremely low distortion and low noise.
    • Despite its compact size, powerful and colourful mono/stereo power amplifier with pronounced audiophile virtues.

Cyrus Stream X₂

Cyrus Stream X2 - Hi-Fi + review
  • The Stream X₂ times precisely; leading edges are well defined and free from grain in a style that few CD players can better.
  • I have almost stopped listening to CD since discovering this and am coming to the conclusion that streamers are better than computers at delivering digital signals. This was clearly backed up when I put the Cyrus up against a Macbook running Decibel software, the latter had a USB connection to the DAC while the Cyrus was on coax which may have a bearing but the advantage was quite distinct.
  • The streamer has considerably more gravitas, there is a palpability to the sound that makes everything more vibrant and real. I used a superb 24/96 recording called ‘Chasing the Dragon’. This is one of the best in terms of room acoustics that I’ve encountered and with the Mac you get a good sense of the scale of the venue.
  • When the Cyrus takes over this becomes more solid and three-dimensional largely because the bottom end is fully fleshed out. This underpins the soundstage in a dramatic fashion and brings the music into your own room in a remarkably convincing fashion.
  • Delivers massive amounts of detail, the noise floor is very low so you can hear right down into the mix.
  • It makes for a palpable sense of realism with a great recording and makes you want to hear more hi-res material.
  • The sound is dynamic, never short on pace and opens up your digital files to an extent that few CD transports can hope to emulate.
  • Cyrus has succeeded in making an easy to set-up and use streamer that delivers the sonic goods.

  • Streamline 2 played very evenly, at first even with a slight distance. Already after five minutes of listening could say that Cyrus cares about the behavior of the ratio between bandwidth ranges and do not allow yourself a moment of forgetfulness, even with a more aggressive and dynamic music. Unprepossessing chunk of the game just fine, pursuing the idea of high fidelity. What's more, it reveals the differences between recordings, but not Pastwa over worse realized.
  • Conclusion: Natural, versatile sound and rich equipment is a big pluses, but the biggest seems to be price. For 5900 zł we get a device that can serve as a home entertainment center. Simply connect the column and possibly other devices you want to use as the source of the sound. Streamline 2 is such a super-mini tower with audiophile twist.

  • An undoubted star with stellar sound quality, ease of use and advanced functionality.
  • Open and dynamic, it extracts a stunning level of detail presenting music with brilliant clarity and precision.
  • There’s no edge to treble or softness to bass, leaving you to simply focus on enjoying the music.
  • The real upgrade here is the improved file compatibility and sure enough hi-res 24/192 files sound superb. Listen to Muse’s The 2nd Law and lead trackSupremacy has incredible scale and power.

  • Best streamer £2000+, Awards 2013.
  • Stream Massive Attack’s Teardrop and the Cyrus doesn’t lose a single ounce of the ethereal vocals.
  • It has all the hallmarks of the Cyrus sound: detail is breathtaking, the timing is razor sharp but never clinical, and the delivery is fast and uninterrupted.
  • There’s plenty of space at the top end for the music to reach a natural high without ever feeling strained or getting too bright, while basslines are agile and strong.
  • The Stream XP2-Qx serves up an energetic, enthusiastic and truly immersive performance

Cyrus Stream XP Qx

Hi-Fi Choice logo
  • The Stream XP is one of a few products I have tested over the last year that has helped convince me it is time to rip my CDs and stow them away
  • What's important is the appearance of the sound it produces, wich can be uncannily rich, detailed and musical
  • I don't think you'll find something that sounds better, even if there are plenty of more shiny alternatives
  • Highly open and revealing sound; well featured

Cyrus Stream X - Hi-Fi Choice review

Cyrus Stream X

Hi-Fi Choice logo
  • Several aspects of the sound will appeal to lovers of classical music in particular.
  • Detail is also good, indeed one of the best in the group. It’s there in plenty, but is never forced on one’s attention and it is kept very neatly in proportion as part of an over-arching whole. Nevertheless, if you want to hear exactly what’s going on in a recording, this is one very good way of getting to it.
